Use the advanced online channel editor

A larger workspace for shared channels

The advanced online editor gives you a browser workspace for shared Channel Studio channels. It is useful for detailed schedules, custom channel logos and library tools. It works with the current managed profile and the content that profile is permitted to use.

You need a managed profile permitted to edit channels. Complete owner approval when Kids or parental protection requires it. The app’s authorised QR code can include access information: treat it as private and do not post screenshots of it.

Open the editor from Odyssey

1. Open Settings → Odyssey Channel Studio → Open Channel Studio.
2. Choose Advanced Online Editor. This entry appears for a managed profile.
3. On Apple TV, scan the displayed QR code with your phone. On other supported platforms, you can also choose Open Online Editor.
4. Confirm that the browser workspace shows the intended profile and channels before editing.

You can also use a published channel’s Advanced Online Editor context-menu action in Live → Channel Studio. The Edit Channel action for a shared account channel follows the same online route.

If the app says to reopen the editor to verify access, do that. A previous QR or page context is not guaranteed to remain valid after the management code or profile changes.

Navigation and Back behaviour

In the app, the online-editor presentation reached from a Live channel has a visible Back action. Apple TV’s remote exit action also dismisses that presentation. That takes you back within Odyssey; it does not navigate the browser that you opened on another device.

The saved-channel screen has its own platform behaviour: Apple TV dismisses with its exit action, while non-TV platforms provide Done. Within the website, the channel list chooses which channel you are editing. The new-channel form offers Back to channels, and library-tool panels offer Close.

Do not use browser Back as a substitute for Save settings or publication. Read the current status before leaving, especially when the website says a request still needs confirmation.

Edit settings and check the schedule

1. Select a channel in the browser’s channel list.
2. Review Channel name, Schedule and Channel enabled.
3. Make the intended changes. Use the exact schedule controls shown for that channel and service capability.
4. Choose Save settings. Wait for the saved confirmation.
5. Choose Review & publish, or Edit programme timeline when the service exposes editable timelines.
6. Inspect programme times, exclusions, the proposed start and any compatibility notice.
7. Use the offered publication action and wait for confirmation before assuming Live has changed.

The current website changes the review button according to the server’s capabilities. An article cannot safely promise that every account sees the timeline control. If the service reports that some linked devices need an update, check those devices before relying on advanced schedules there.

Work with an available programme timeline

The editable view is headed Plan your week. It offers day controls, Time grid and Programme list. Select a programme to inspect it. Where movement is allowed, use the inspector, pointer drag or the move handle’s keyboard arrow controls. Reserved premieres and other protected entries may not be editable.

Add movie or series searches for content that can be matched to your current sources. To place content, select a cleared slot. Search results distinguish currently available programmes from titles requiring capture in Odyssey or an available Capture & add operation. Finding a title in search does not grant playback access.

Remove time period creates an intermission until you add content. Review the resulting times: removing a programme is an edit to the private plan, not a request to delete the source media. Timeline changes can be saved to the private schedule while still requiring publication to affect Live.

Logos and library tools

Custom channel logo accepts PNG, JPEG or WebP up to 512 KiB. The website instructs you to save settings and publish to apply it. Use programme artwork is the corresponding presentation choice.

Templates, Packs and Import & export open separate library panels. A template saves eligible channel recipes before each is reviewed and published. A pack organises existing channels; removing a pack keeps its channels. Recipe transfer excludes source links and credentials and requires current source mapping on import.

A practical edit

You have a working shared film channel and want one evening to run differently. Open its online editor, confirm the selected channel and save any changed settings. If your service offers the editable timeline, inspect the relevant day and use its permitted editing controls. Review the complete resulting period before publishing.

If the channel already uses a manual timeline, changing automatic programming rules requires Use automatic schedule. That is a deliberate replacement choice; do not toggle it merely to clear an error.

Recover carefully

A saved request needs confirmation: use the specific retry action, such as Retry saved change or Retry saved timeline change. The website retains request information so the original operation can be resolved.

The channel changed elsewhere: preserve your intended edits and follow the message to load current settings. No collections are available: prepare a complete permitted collection in Odyssey, then reopen or refresh the channel workspace.

Can I publish without checking the preview? The workflow requires a valid reviewed schedule. Does leaving the QR screen close my browser? No; those are separate devices and navigation contexts.
