  • A supported saved source and authorised guide feed.
  • The exact XMLTV channel ID for manual mapping.

Understand the two connections

An electronic programme guide, or EPG, supplies programme titles and times. The channel’s stream supplies the video. Odyssey can have a working stream with missing guide data, or guide data for a stream that is currently unavailable.

Use a guide feed you are authorised to access. You need its address and, for manual channel matching, the exact channel identifier from its XMLTV data. A display name such as “Evening Cinema” is not necessarily that identifier.

Find the guide settings

On Apple TV, open Settings → Sources → EPG. The television Settings structure places Live TV and EPG inside Sources. Other platform Settings lists can expose EPG directly. Open that page and look for Guide Sources, Programme Guide, Last Updated, Automatic Refresh and Refresh Guide.

These instructions cover supported saved sources. Some connections keep provider-managed guide configuration and must be managed through the appropriate online source controls.

Add or adjust a feed

  1. Open Guide Sources and select the source whose programme information you want to manage.
  2. Choose Add Guide and complete the feed form using the authorised feed details.
  3. Save the feed, then review the list. Feeds are tried in priority order.
  4. Use Move Earlier if the preferred feed should be tried sooner. Use Disable to keep a feed without using it, or Remove when you deliberately want it removed.
  5. Choose Save Guide Sources to commit the list. Leave Odyssey connected so its queued managed change can synchronise.
  6. Return to EPG settings and choose Refresh Guide. Inspect the last successful refresh and return to Live to check a known programme.

Adding an extra feed does not automatically remove the provider’s existing guide. A failed refresh retains the last successful guide data; that data may be useful but may no longer describe the current schedule.

Match one channel

  1. In Live, open the supported channel’s context menu and choose Assign EPG Channel ID.
  2. In Match Programme Guide, choose the intended Guide Feed.
  3. Enter the exact XMLTV channel ID, preserving its spelling and case.
  4. Choose Apply Assignment to Draft.
  5. Return to Channels & Groups and choose Save Changes. Applying an assignment to a draft is not the final save.

This changes programme information, not the playback source. Multiple assignments are resolved using feed priority. Unavailable assignments can be retained for later refreshes rather than silently discarded.

An example and an undo

A source lists “News HD”, but its guide feed uses a different internal channel ID. Obtain that exact ID from the guide provider, assign it to the existing channel and save the organisation change. Keep the source’s stream intact; renaming “News HD” would change only its presentation.

To undo a manual assignment, use Remove Assignment in the mapping editor and then Save Changes. If you are still editing and do not want any of the pending organisation changes, use the editor’s Cancel flow and confirm discarding them.

Common problems

Still no programmes: check whether the feed refreshed successfully, whether it covers the date you are browsing, and whether its channel ID exactly matches your assignment.

Times seem wrong: compare the feed’s schedule with the provider’s own listing and check the device’s date and time. This guide does not establish that refreshing fixes incorrect source data.

A guide URL contains credentials: treat the full URL as a secret. Share redacted errors and the affected channel with support, not the complete address.

Can I add a guide to get new channels? No. A guide describes programmes. Media access still comes from an authorised connected source.
