What you can bring to Apple TV

An IPTV player is an app that plays television delivered over an internet connection. It is separate from the service supplying the channels. Odyssey can connect authorised Xtream and M3U sources, alongside supported personal media-server libraries. Installing Odyssey does not include a channel subscription, films or series.

Start with a source you already know works. Confirm its address, credentials and network reachability on the Apple TV itself. A server accessible from your phone on another network is not automatically reachable from the television.

Browse with the remote

Live is for channels and programme information. Movies and Series organise the corresponding catalogues supplied by your connections. Home, search, favourites and Continue Watching provide other ways into available content.

Apple TV uses remote focus and its own navigation. Web-management instructions and touch-screen menu positions are not interchangeable with the television interface. The getting-started guide explains the first connection and the navigation differences.

Multiple sources, with their own requirements

You might use a permitted live playlist for television and Jellyfin for your personal film library. These can belong to the same Odyssey setup, while retaining their own authentication, permissions and availability. Profile restrictions still apply.

Read the multiple-source overview before deciding what you need. Playlist playback, library integration and Channel Studio preparation are different capabilities; support for one does not imply support for every other feature.

Recording needs Home DVR

Odyssey on Apple TV can connect to Home DVR. The separate service needs a supported host, recording storage, a trusted HTTPS connection and an eligible source with recording permission. The Apple TV app is a client of that service; this is not a claim that the television records programmes independently.

Check the Home DVR requirements before choosing Odyssey for recording. Cloud DVR, local Live Rewind and Catch Up are not available in the guide version covered here.

Is Odyssey a suitable choice?

Consider Odyssey if you want an Apple TV player that combines your own live and library sources, with optional scheduling and shared-viewing workflows. Check the current build if you depend on a particular codec, audio format, receiver or provider behaviour: a source connection alone does not establish compatibility with every media file.

Use compatibility and requirements to check the distinctions, then follow the official invitation. No app ranking, provider access or recording entitlement is included.

Common questions

Does Odyssey include IPTV channels?

No. You connect services and media you are authorised to access. Odyssey supplies no media.

Can I record using Apple TV alone?

The documented recording workflow requires a connected Home DVR service with storage and the applicable source permissions.
