Give an existing library a schedule

A custom channel is another way to watch media you already have permission to use. You might make a weekend comedy channel from a small film collection, or keep episodes of a serial drama in order. Odyssey supplies the scheduling workflow, not the films or episodes.

The original titles remain in their source library. A channel recipe does not create a new copy, a media subscription or rights to share the collection.

Use a compatible library

The documented Channel Studio workflow supports compatible Jellyfin, Emby and Plex sources. Silo uses its Jellyfin-compatible connection. The profile must have access to an enabled source with content that can be inspected and prepared.

Xtream playback is supported separately, but Xtream cannot be used to create Channel Studio channels in the build covered by the guide. Do not choose Odyssey for that workflow on the assumption that every playable source is also a scheduling source.

A recipe is not a published channel

The saved recipe holds the content selection and rules. Preparation builds a proposed schedule from eligible media. Review gives you an opportunity to inspect the schedule and any exclusion reasons. Publication makes the reviewed schedule available for watching.

Saving settings is therefore not the same as publishing them. Existing published channels retain their current schedule until changes are published. The canonical creation guide explains the actual controls and confirmation states.

Start simple, then refine

For a first channel, choose a modest collection you recognise and a straightforward order. Check that the schedule includes what you expected. Missing programmes may reflect preparation failures, profile restrictions or rules that exclude the remaining content.

After that first successful preview, explore the documented ordering, watched-history and scheduling choices. A serial story benefits from preserving episode order; a casual film channel may suit a different arrangement. The best choice is the one whose prepared schedule you have checked.

Maintain the source bindings

A saved channel refers to particular sources. Removing and recreating a connection can leave bindings pointing at the old identity. Use Reconnect saved channel sources when replacing a library connection.

Shared online editing also needs a managed profile. Channel names, icons, schedule changes and publication are deliberate management actions. Check their available controls on your platform and keep saved recipes separate from the published Live lineup when troubleshooting.

Common questions

Can I make a channel from Jellyfin?

Yes, the documented workflow supports eligible content from a compatible, enabled Jellyfin source with the required profile access. Preparation and publication still need to succeed.

Why is a saved channel missing from Live?

Check whether its schedule was prepared, published and enabled. A saved recipe alone does not establish publication.
