Choose a destination for the task
Odyssey’s navigation separates finding something to watch from managing the app. Start in Home for available shelves, Movies or Series for those libraries, and Live for channels. Use Search when you already have a title in mind. Library holds personal collections, while Settings contains setup and preferences.
Not every destination is shown in every configuration. Some depend on your app version or profile access. Sports and Catch Up are unavailable in the app version covered here.
iPhone and compact layouts
- Use the tab navigation to select an available destination.
- If the destination is not among the visible tabs, open More and choose it from the list.
- Open an item within that destination. Use the native back control to return through that destination’s screens.
- Choose another destination when you want a different area of the app.
The older compact layout explicitly keeps the first four destinations as tabs and puts the rest under More. Newer system-adaptable navigation can arrange the tabs and sidebar according to the available space. Avoid relying on a fixed tab number; use the destination’s name.
iPad and Mac
Wider layouts can display a sidebar beside the content. Select a destination in that sidebar, then work in the content area. Reducing the window width or using a narrower iPad layout can change how the navigation is presented.
The app keeps separate navigation paths for destinations in its adaptive shell. That supports returning to a section without deliberately treating every destination change as a new app launch. It is not a guarantee that a playing video, unfinished network operation or expired permission remains active indefinitely.
On Mac, use the visible pointer and navigation controls. A Mac menu or pointer action does not necessarily work like a television remote gesture.
Apple TV
Apple TV uses a dedicated navigation panel and visible remote focus. Move focus to the destination you want and select it. Within Live, leftward navigation can return from channels to categories; individual editor screens also have their own Back or exit handling.
There is no universal instruction to press Back a fixed number of times. A sheet, an editor and the main navigation panel have different owners. Use the visible Back, Close or Done action when provided, or the remote’s Back control for the current screen. For a specific editor, follow its guide’s platform notes.
A worked route
To adjust subtitles, open Settings and choose Subtitles. To learn what a feature does, choose Discover Odyssey, the first Settings option. To find your build number, use About.
To make a channel, open Settings → Odyssey Channel Studio → Open Channel Studio. To watch a published channel, use Live → Channel Studio. Those are two different destinations because editing a saved recipe and viewing a published schedule are different tasks.
Why a destination might look different
Discover or Categories: the adaptive shell labels the discovery destination Categories when global discovery is not available. Follow the label actually shown.
A protected destination is missing: check the profile. Kids Mode and adult-content access affect what can be shown; navigation does not bypass those protections.
My phone has More but the television does not: that is a platform difference. Use the television navigation panel rather than searching for an identical overflow tab.
My screen changed after I switched profile: settings and editors can dismiss to protect the new profile’s context. Reopen the feature with the intended profile active.
Next step
Try opening one destination, entering a detail screen and returning. Then locate Settings and Discover Odyssey. Once those routes are familiar, the rest of the help centre can describe tasks using destination names rather than assuming a particular device layout.
