Before you begin
- A current build containing the weekly calendar and available content permitted for the active profile.
A new browsing angle for the week
Weekly Home collections group titles around an authored theme: a filmmaker, a period, a genre, a story idea or a calendar occasion. They give you a different way into the content Odyssey can discover for your profile.
These collections are not an extra media subscription. Odyssey supplies no films or programmes. A theme can suggest a title only within the current discovery and access rules, and an actual playback source is still required.
Choose region and seasons
- Open Settings → Rails.
- Under Home Shelves, find Weekly Collections Region.
- Choose Automatic to use the device's current region, Worldwide for the broad editorial scope, or one of the listed regions.
- Set Seasonal Collections to Automatic, Northern Hemisphere or Southern Hemisphere.
- Return to Home and browse any populated weekly rows.
These two choices apply to this device. They do not relocate a provider account, change a source licence or grant content access. Seasonal Collections chooses a hemisphere; it is not an on/off switch for all calendar themes.
How the calendar affects the result
The source snapshot contains an authored weekly plan starting on Monday 5 October 2026 at 00:00 UTC. A theme changes at its weekly boundary, with additional authored occasion windows where applicable. The plan is finite, so this guide does not promise an indefinitely repeating calendar after the implemented entries end.
Regional occasion rules can affect additional rows. Worldwide uses the broad scope rather than pretending every occasion has the same local date. Seasonal rows use the selected hemisphere during specific planned weeks; they do not continuously turn every row into summer or winter content.
Calendar collections are editorial viewing suggestions. They are not statements that every person observes an occasion or that religious dates are identical in every location.
Why two people can see different rows
Theme rules match the available metadata: for example, a director, genre, production country, year range or relevant story terms. A matching title must also pass source and profile restrictions. Some optional discovery routes need configured metadata access and supported connected sources.
Rows with no matching admitted titles are omitted. A sparse source library can therefore produce fewer rows than a large one, even with the same region and calendar date. Missing metadata can also prevent a genuine thematic match from being recognised.
The implementation avoids some recently used selections and can supplement the admitted local catalogue with bounded metadata discovery. This is not a promise that every week will contain wholly new films or that refreshing a server will manufacture a missing theme.
Choose seasons that fit your device
You are using Odyssey in Australia but your device region was set up elsewhere. A winter-themed collection around the end of the year may feel out of place. Set Weekly Collections Region to Australia and Seasonal Collections to Southern Hemisphere. During the planned seasonal weeks, the seasonal selection can then reflect that choice.
If your connected library has no matching summer stories, the setting still cannot produce a populated summer row. Search the library or choose another Home shelf while leaving the correct regional preference in place.
Change the preference or leave a theme
Return either setting to Automatic when you want Odyssey to use its device-derived default again. You do not need to remove a source or reset your watch history to change a seasonal choice.
Opening a themed title takes you into ordinary title discovery and playback. Use the usual Back action to leave it, and use My List if you want to remember a title after the week's collection changes.
Common questions
Why is my friend's weekly row different? Compare date, region, hemisphere, source content, metadata and profile restrictions. Matching one setting is not enough to guarantee identical rows.
Will the theme change at midnight in my time zone? The verified weekly plan uses UTC boundaries. Local clock time can differ.
Does a missing row mean the feature is broken? Not necessarily. Empty matches are intentionally omitted. Report a specific date, region, profile and expected title if you need the behaviour checked.
